  the tender - 'desperado'

The Golden Age of Sail, bracketed between the Industrial Revolution and the beginning of the Second World War, produced a collection of classic yachts that the world will never see again. The Beken's photographic collection "A Hundred Years of Sail," and the Rosenfeld's, "A Century Under Sail," should serve as an inspiration to designers of today. It was these books and a trip to the Nioulargue Regatta that led me to the four year process of designing and building Savannah. I wanted to capture in a new yacht the romance of the old. I wanted to understand how they built such beautiful boats. I wanted to sail along the New England Coast on a sepiatone afternoon and reminisce about the more genteel time that was the Golden Age of Sail.
All of us involved with the design and construction of Savannah felt that we had the opportunity to create something special. We all worked very hard, sometimes painfully so, stretching our limits to create a yacht worthy of standing with the Classics*.

*Classic: serving as a standard of excellence: of recognised value: traditional, enduring: characterized by simple tailored lines in fashion year after year. Webster's Dictionary.
